A German startup, ERC Systems, has recently begun flight testing Romeo, a 2.7-ton electric-hybrid, vertical take-off and landing aircraft, marking a significant milestone as the heaviest vehicle of its kind to fly within the European Union.

During a successful public demonstration in Bavaria, the prototype showcased its stability through basic maneuvers and remote-controlled flight. Unlike many competitors focusing on urban passenger travel, this Munich-based eVTOL company is tailoring its heavy-duty, eight-rotor design for specialized roles in medical transport and evacuations, logistics, and defense operations.
