Business aviation plays an important role in Europe’s connectivity, competitiveness and access to essential services, from time-sensitive business travel to medical and emergency flights.

In response to recent proposals from the European Parliament’s Greens/EFA group calling for temporary restrictions on business aviation, EBAA has written to European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and Commissioner for Sustainable Transport and Tourism Apostolos Tzitzikostas.

In its letter, EBAA underlines its support for Europe’s sustainability and energy security objectives, while warning that targeted restrictions on one segment of aviation would be disproportionate and risk undermining the EU Single Market.

Business aviation represents around 7% of European aviation activity and a minority share of aviation fuel consumption. Yet it connects more than 1,500 airports across Europe, including many that have limited or no scheduled airline services, and supports essential missions such as medical and life-saving flights.

EBAA stresses that effective climate and energy policy must be based on evidence, proportionality and practical impact. Measures should focus where they can deliver meaningful results, rather than targeting a sector whose actual impact on Europe’s overall energy reserves is limited.

Business aviation remains committed to working with EU policymakers on solutions that support decarbonisation, protect connectivity and strengthen Europe’s economy.
